QWO

For cellulite, QWO is a first.

Cellulite, the aggravating dimpling of skin, is the bane of many women’s existence the world over. Whether due to hormones, lifestyle or genetics, it is estimated that between 80-90% of women will experience cellulite at some point in their lives. And though it is often associated with age, this is not always the case; females of any age can struggle with the presence of cellulite, usually on the thighs, hips, buttocks and abdomen. Men can also experience cellulite, but due to the different distribution of fat, muscle and connective tissue, cellulite remains primarily a female issue. Though it would seem that cellulite discriminates by gender, women of all shapes and sizes can experience cellulite, and though sometimes exercise can help diminish its appearance, even the fittest of women have been known to suffer.

Over the decades there have been many products and devices brought onto the market with the promise of improving the appearance of stubborn orange peel-esque skin with little success. Work-out plans, diets, massages, creams, lotions, scrubs and invasive procedures guaranteeing cellulite reduction have been delivering less-than-desirable results for too long.

Luckily there is a brand-new minimally invasive treatment now available that is taking cellulite by storm: QWO™. This revolutionary treatment has effectively ended the battle with cellulite for many women and now it’s your turn as we welcome QWO to the list of services available at Amadi Aesthetics.

1) What is QWO?

QWO–pronounced kwhoa–is an FDA approved, clinically proven, collagenolytic (meaning that it has the capacity to break-down collagen) injectable cellulite treatment. This first-of-its-kind non-surgical treatment targets moderate to severe cellulite on the buttocks.

2) How does it work?

Cellulite is caused by fibrous connective cords (AKA fibrous septae) binding skin to underlying muscle. Fat cells then accumulate in the fat between the skin and muscle, pushing upwards against the skin, which is simultaneously being pulled downward by the septae, resulting in an uneven, dimpled surface.

Qwo works by dissolving the collagen-rich septae, releasing the tension and enabling the skin to smooth out.

QWO is injected into the fat of the treatment area where you can receive up to 12 injections. Two treatment areas may be tended to per visit (ie both buttocks). Each treatment area will receive three rounds of injections, 21 days apart.

3) Who is a candidate for QWO?

The ideal candidate for QWO injections should have moderate-severe cellulite with little-to-no skin laxity. It is not uncommon for women to mistake sagging or drooping skin on the thighs and buttocks for cellulite. These conditions will not be helped by QWO as this is not true cellulite. A consultation with our team Dr Amadi will help determine whether you are a good candidate for QWO.

4) What to expect during your Qwo appointment?

As with other injectable treatments, there is no anesthetic necessary for QWO. This out-patient procedure can be performed in the comfort of your doctor’s office and can take as little as 10 minutes.

5) What is recovery like?

Patients who receive QWO experience some bruising at the injection site, but most are able to return to normal activity the same day. It is recommended to refrain from vigorous exercise in the days following as this can increase blood-flow and therefore bruising at treatment sites. Bruising can last for up to two weeks.

For most patients, this treatment is quick and painless and requires little-to-no downtime.

6) When can I expect to see results and how long will they last?

Some results can be seen in the days after treatment, but the full result of QWO will develop in the weeks following the third treatment. Results from QWO can last up to four years, perhaps longer.
