Vein Treatment (Sclerotherapy)

Sclerotherapy is the removal of varicose veins and spider veins through the injection of a safe sclerosing solution directly into each vein.

The purpose of the solution is to destroy the vein. It does this by irritating the vein line and causing it to swell, thereby cutting off the flow of blood to the vein. As a result, the vein shrinks and then naturally gets absorbed in to the surrounding tissue. The absorption time varies from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the size of the varicose or spider vein. 

Most patients require multiple injections to completely correct their targeted veins. In most cases, about 50-70% of the treated vessels will be resolved. However, new veins may appear and additional treatments at 3-4 week intervals are generally required for optimum results.
